Our volunteer drivers provide a lifeline for Dorothy House patients and care using their own vehicles.
What you will be doing
- Call a patient, carer, family member at home the day before you are due to collect them and check the arrangements
- Collect them from their home / a Dorothy House Hospice site and help them into / out of your car if necessary
- Deliver them to their destination
- Help them out of the car and ensure that they safely make it to their appointment / home
- Talk to/listen to your passengers if that’s what they want
- Enjoy the experience of making a difference to the lives of people affected by life-limiting illness
The skills you need
- Good driving skills
- Good communication skills
- Good time management
- Friendly
- Able to work on own initiative
- Excellent telephone manner
- Able and willing to communicate by email and mobile phone
- Own a car
