This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys socialising and good company! The Carers Group gives carers the opportunity to take a much needed break, socialise with other carers, and find out how to access local information, resources, and other sources of support. They need some friendly people to help them ensure the sessions run smoothly. Tasks will include: Giving a warm welcome to the carers attending the group Helping prepare and serve teas and coffees Chatting to the members of the group, filling in when the Carers Agent is busy with a one to one This is a fun, friendly and sociable role. It's very rewarding to know you are providing much needed support to individuals who spend much of their time caring for others, who would otherwise be quite isolated. By volunteering with us you will: Meet new people and make new friends Build your confidence and interpersonal skills Learn about the role of carers and the challenges they face Help is needed from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on the first Friday of every month.

The Somerset Carers Service offers vital free support and guidance for carers.

They recognise that whilst caring for another person is very rewarding, it can also be overwhelming and lonely at times. The Service can help link carers to local support groups and events in their area. They understand that every carer's situation is unique, and can offer specific support to carers to help them access resources and information that will help both them, and the person they are caring for.
