Summary

We are recruiting volunteer negotiators who must be prepared to have face to face meetings.

Detailed description

We need your help. We are recruiting volunteer negotiators.

Your ability to listen, understand and negotiate both with landowners and local authorities will help to further the feasibility of this project.

Having some experience of working either in or with local authorities will be helpful, though not essential.

You will have

  • good negotiating and writing skills
  • be able to manage your own time effectively and
  • be prepared to have face to face meetings with landowners.

Everyone who works at the Somerset Rail to Trail Project is a volunteer and started out with no prior experience of trailways. As long as you are prepared to learn along the way, your proactivity and enthusiasm is 90% of what we need.

We ask for a minimum commitment of 3 hours per week, though if you have the time and the inclination, more is always appreciated. Your commitment could have a long-lasting positive impact on the community at large and we hope will be extremely rewarding.

We are hoping to recruit people either living in or able to travel easily to the Mendip area between Lamyatt and Glastonbury, and in South Somerset between Wincanton and Henstridge.

We will provide full training and reimbursement of any travel costs.

About Somerset Rail to Trail Project

The Somerset Rail to Trail Project is a community led initiative with ambitious aims to transform the disused railways of Somerset into accessible, traffic-free multi-user trailways, for pedestrains, mobility aid users, equestrians and cyclists, tackling a range of issues from climate change to improved physical and mental well-being.
