Summary

Leading and co-ordinating our volunteer team

Detailed description

BACC's work supports the local community by helping people to make healthier, more sustainable travel choices. The cycle network in Bridgwater is lacking, and using the car is often the easy choice. We work with local leaders to drive improvements in the bike routes around town, which ultimately means people will be more inclined to get on their bikes for daily trips instead.

The role of the chair is what you make it - you could be very hands-on, liaising with local councillors and the community, or you could simply chair the meetings while others do that part - it's up to you.

The main responsibilities of the chairperson are:

  • Chairing BACC meetings and preparation of agendas;
  • Co-ordinating the BACC volunteer team, ensuring everyone is working effectively together.‬

Historically, the group has met bi-monthly, but this could change depending on the needs and preferences of the new volunteers.

At the end of the day, all our volunteers feel they're making a difference to the lives of the local people, both now and for years to come.

About Bridgwater Area Cycling Campaign

We are a voluntary group run by cycling enthusiasts and local residents. Formed in February 2019, our main aim is to improve things for cyclists, promote safer riding and push for the provision of new route infrastructure in and around Bridgwater. We also support safer walking and wheeling and all means of sustainable transport.
