We are looking for someone to assist our delivery drivers with house clearances and delivering items of furniture to our customers.

Volunteer Role profile

 

Role Title:

Drivers Mate

Responsible to:

Retail Operations Manager, Drivers

Location:

Wambrook, Chard, Somerset and Retail Stores

Time Commitment:

1 day a week, usually Thursdays.

Role description:

To assist the van driver with collecting & delivering furniture, bags, etc from customers and retail stores. Generally helping the driver on his rounds.

 

Main tasks:

·        Loading, unloading sometimes heavy & bulky items

·        Collecting furniture & other items from homes & shops

·        Delivering items to homes & shops

·        Clearing bags, boxes & rubbish from shops

·        Generally assisting the driver on his rounds

·        Being polite & courteous to customers & colleagues

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

 

·        Lifting, carrying heavy & bulky items

·        Furniture removals

·        Physically fit

 

Training and support available

All Volunteers of the Sanctuary will be given an induction to familiarise them with the Sanctuary.

 

Specific instruction will be given in regards to lifting & carrying, etc

Dogs should be kept on a lead at all times when outside the kennels.

Ferne Animal Sanctuary cares for over 300 in need domestic and farm animals of all varieties from cats to cattle, dogs to donkeys and many more. Ferne aims to find homes for its cats and dogs and for its horses and ponies. The Sanctuary's beautiful 71 acre site, including a conservation area with nature trail, picnic areas and cafe is open almost every day of the year.
