Detailed description

Our peer mentoring and peer support service is designed for those in the local community who have identified that they would benefit from additional support and/ or are facing social isolation. We are looking for Peer Mentors to work with our customers and help them to overcome any obstacles they are facing which might be blocking them from achieving their goals such as: · Living independently · Improving their health and wellbeing · Increase their ability to solve problems independently · Managing their finances · Reduce the risk of re-offending · Increase knowledge of local services and how to access them · Taking part in and contributing to their local community · Building a positive social network · Finding suitable learning or training opportunities · Achieving and keeping a job · Finding a better job · Starting a career The Responsibilities of the Role The service is person centered and led by each individual customer. It could involve our Mentors attending an appointment with a customer, supporting them to register at a GP surgery, discussing feelings and emotions, helping with reading and writing, listening, having a coffee and chat. It really depends on the individual and the aspects of their lives that they need support with. Being a Mentor can be demanding and very rewarding too. This is your opportunity to work in a multi-agency and provide additional resources and support to our Care and Support team. You will work alongside professional practitioners and come into contact with many other agencies involved in housing, health and wellbeing, money management, education, training and employment support. We ask for a time commitment of 1-2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months with some additional attendance to group/team meetings on a monthly basis. The service is available Tuesday - Friday 10-4pm.
