Summary

Marie Curie is looking for a Collection Organiser to help us with our bucket collections in stores. This role includes being a part of our Great Daffodil Appeal

Detailed description

Why we need your help

Marie Curie is looking for a Collection Organiser to help us co-ordinate our in-store bucket collections in Shepton Mallet, and to help us raise vital funds for our end of life care and support services in Somerset.

Our nurses, health care assistants and support staff in Somerset work day and night to ensure that people get the best end of life care possible. Fundraising for Marie Curie helps us to ensure we can support people living with any terminal illness and their families.

What we need you to do

The role of Collection Organiser involves supporting volunteer collectors at bucket collections in stores. This can involve dropping off/collecting kit and supplies on the day, counting and banking money, and thanking collectors.

The role is very flexible and generally requires one day of volunteering twice a year. We tend to collect in the Spring during our Great Daffodil Appeal, and at Christmas in Shepton Mallet. Your local Community Fundraiser will be there to support you in your role, answer any questions, and provide updates on the charity's work and the impact of your role.

What skills or experience do you need?

  • Interest in fundraising and volunteering in your local area
  • Ability to follow safe cash handling procedures
  • An approachable and friendly nature
  • Reliability and commitment
  • Inclusive and respectful values

What we can offer you

  • An excellent opportunity to build on your skills in a charity environment
  • An induction, training, support and supervision in your role
  • Regular charity updates and information
  • Agreed reasonable out of pocket expenses

Marie Curie is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of patients and their families and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Marie Curie will treat all volunteers fairly and with respect. We will not discriminate on the basis of disability, ethnicity, marital status, pregnancy or maternity, sex (i.e. gender), sexual orientation, religion or faith, or gender reassignment. We will not discriminate on the basis of age, unless the responsibilities of a role require us to do so in order to safeguard our volunteers and/or service users.

If you are viewing this post and are interested in doing this role in a different area of Somerset, just drop us a message and we will be happy to chat more about your local area.
