Type of Work you will be involved with
Help provide a supportive environment to participants while carrying out practical gardening work.
The work will involve assisting individual participants and assisting with the cultivation of fruit and vegetables.
The nature of the practical tasks will depend on the seasons but are likely to include planting, weeding, pruning, harvesting and watering.
To assist with tasks which are mutually agreed.
Skills and abilities you will be using in your role
Experience, skills and knowledge of gardening and the cultivation of vegetables would be an advantage. You will receive information on what jobs need doing and any relevant heath & safety issues.
Ability to be supportive within a group.
You should be willing to participate in other training as necessary, including mental health first aid.
You should be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Boundaries and confidentiality
You will be expected to work in accordance with the Mind boundaries and confidentiality policies, which will be introduced at interview

You will be expected to work at Wellington allotment and occasionally the office of Mind in Somerset in Canal Road, Taunton.
Availability
Availability /times and days to be agreed. Once arranged we will need you be able to commit to this time /day and let us know well in advance if possible if you are not able to make it.
One Wednesday per fortnight minimum ideally 10.30 – 3pm approx. Times may vary ( we don’t expect everyone to be flat out gardening for all of this time, but these are the times we are offering on the website so we need to be available then)
Occasionally additional sessions may be needed with prior notice

Further information
You will need to bring water proofs, stout boots and / or wellies, sun hat / cream.
PPE will be provided on site and at present numbers are limited due to Social distancing measures. Because it is outside we are not obliged to wear masks , but may do so if we want!
Please bring a flask ! A camping chair is also helpful but we have some spares. All tools provided. We have internet and good phone signal on site.
