About RSPCA South East Somerset Branch

This independent branch of RSPCA was started in 1974. It covers an area encompassing Henstridge, Yeovil, Crewkerne, Langport, Somerton, Street, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet and Wincanton including Castle Cary and other towns and villages within that perimeter. We do not have an animal centre but use fosterers and our own small cattery for a small number of animals before getting them ready, neutering and vaccinating and re-homing through a private boarding establishment. We run occasional drop in days for the travelling and Gypsy communities. We even do doorstep care for the more house bound or other animals in need. We give financial support to animals identified by the Inspectorate and our volunteers. We undertake contributions toward veterinary care for animals in need and ensure animals brought to our attention do not suffer but are offered the best possible chance for the future. We undertake trapping, health checks and neutering for feral colonies of cats whenever we have trained volunteers for this. We support our main Society by helping to promote the aims through education, campaigning and all other positive animal welfare. We have shops at Glastonbury, Somerton, Crewkerne and Street.
