Summary

Support hundreds of walkers stepping out onto the Kennet & Avon Canal, in support of Royal United Hospitals Bath.

Detailed description

The Walk of Life wouldn’t be possible without the kind support from our loyal volunteers. Here is an overview of some of the roles that we need help with his year:

GoodNess stop volunteer

Along the canal we run GoodNess stops to refresh and refuel our walkers. This role involves running a stall and providing water and a snack to every walker as they pass by (all refreshments provided by us).

Bradford on Avon marshall

Take part in cheering our marathon walkers on to reach the lunchtime rest stop! This role will involve marshalling our route as walkers leave the canal, cross the road, entering Victory Field in Bradford on Avon, and making their way back onto the canal from here.

Bath marshall

Help our walkers finish their journey by guiding them on their final mile. You’ll be the face they remember as they triumphantly conquer the last few steps of the challenge! This role will involve marshalling the route along the canal, through Bath, and up into Sydney Gardens to the finish line.

Bath cheer squad

We need big cheers and big energy for our squad of Bath cheerers! You’ll be celebrating our incredible walkers as they cross the finish line. We’ll provide the airhorns and banners, all we ask is that you bring yourself!

Bath refreshments

Our walkers will need refreshments after their big finish! We’ll need volunteers to man our refreshment stall to help hand out drinks to our walkers at the finish line.

Please note, the times above are provisional, and you would be able to volunteer for just a few hours if that suits you better.

If you choose to volunteer at the Walk of Life, you’ll receive:

·      #TeamRUHX volunteer t-shirt

·      An invite to our volunteer briefing event before the Walk to meet other volunteers and run through the day (date tbc)

·      Guidance notes about your role for the day

·      Ongoing support from us, and a great experience
