Based at our Taunton hospice site, you will be part of our family of friendly receptionist volunteers.Detailed description
Our reception volunteers help operate the telephone system, receiving and transferring calls as well as welcoming patients and visitors and processing retail sales.
Based at our Taunton hospice site, you will be part of our family of friendly receptionist volunteers, offering your support either weekly or fortnightly. Your support is needed weekly or fortnightly at one of the following times:
- Monday afternoons
- Weekday evenings
- Weekends, any time (morning, afternoon or evenings)
About you
You are able to emphathise with and put patients and visitors at ease and escort visitors to the In-patient Unit, as well as being confident at operating our telephone system and till for retail sales.

We are looking for someone with the following skills:
- Demonstrates a high standard of communication and organisational skills.
- Is able to provide a warm welcome and excellent customer service.
- Is comfortable using IT equipment.
- Has the ability to stay calm and resolve situations efficiently.

We are committed to providing specialist palliative care, advice, support and respite to patients and their families living in Somerset and parts of neighbouring counties. Our care is available for those who have a terminal or life-limiting illness, for example cancer, motor neurone disease and chronic lung disease.
